Agenda

• Appointment and removal of Commons:Administrators, Commons:Bureaucrats, Commons:Checkusers and Commons:Oversighters.
  • Details of appointment (vote results, links to request pages) or removal (reason, e.g. resignation, inactivity, decease). Grouped by appointment, honourable removal, or other removal, and arranged in this order. Sorted within each group first chronologically and then alphabetically.
  • Appreciation for users who are honourably removed.
• Notices of major Wikimedia Commons events.

Schedule

• 1st draft due 30th day.
• 1st day asap, no later than 2nd day.
  1. check for additional changes.
  2. finalise text.
  3. publish on Commons:Commons Gazette/Latest, Commons:Commons Gazette/2024, COM:VP, etc.

Volunteer staff changes

In March 2024, 2 sysops and 1 checkuser were removed. Currently, there are

• User:De728631 was removed on 14 March due to inactivity. He had served as sysop since 26 July 2015.
• User:Kaldari was removed on 14 March due to inactivity. They had served as sysop since 3 June 2008.
• User:Trijnstel was removed as sysop and checkuser on 14 March due to resignation. She had served as sysop since 10 August 2011 and as checkuser since 28 October 2012.

We thank them for their service.

I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing you want to mention, but User:CGoubert-WMF & User:HNowlan (WMF) did a bunch of work to make uploads of large files more stable (T358308). In essence, uploads >2.5GB work again after being broken for several months. Is that the sort of thing you want to include in these reports? Bawolff (talk) 16:31, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

In May 2024, 1 sysop was removed. Currently, there are

• User:Benoît Prieur was removed on 13 May due to global ban by the Wikimedia Foundation. He had served as sysop since 18 January 2018.

Other news

• Video2commons is out of service since 16 May.
• User:SteinsplitterBot is back in service rotating files. User:Steinsplitter explained that it was out of service because ' the so called "Toolsforge" does not provide enough ressources (RAM, CPU, Storage and binarys) to run Rotatebot '.
