“History rests in the hands of believers,” says Focus on the Family President Jim Daly
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Two leading conservative Christian groups today announced they have joined forces in an effort to inject “biblical values” into the increasingly murky U.S. political waters as elections loom.
Family Policy Alliance Foundation (FPAF, https://familypolicyalliance.com/statesmenacademy/about-us-fpaf/), the educational sister ministry of Family Policy Alliance, has merged with Christians Engaged (www.christiansengaged.org), a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that promotes Christian engagement in politics and advocacy. The organizations aim to sign up 1 million Christians to engage in the upcoming U.S. presidential election and local elections across the country for years to come.
FPAF is a leader in pro-family education and alliance building, with Family Policy Council allies in nearly 40 U.S. states. Christians Engaged challenges churches and individual Christians to pray for the nation and mobilizes Christians to vote and get involved in their local communities.
The merger will create an expanded network capable of driving cultural and legislative change to advance biblical values, the organizations said.
“Together, we will train elected officials nationwide to view policy through the lens of the Bible and to ensure victories on policies that impact families, life, and religious freedom,” said Craig DeRoche, FPAF’s president and CEO.
Bunni Pounds, founder and president of Christians Engaged, said, “We’re excited to move Christians into more active roles in politics and to advocate for Christian values influencing the local, state, and federal levels of government. We believe we can inspire Christians to participate in these vital elections and help shape the future landscape of America.”
Michele Bachmann, former member of Congress and current Dean of the Robertson School of Government at Regent University, described the merger as a “force multiplier” that creates a “network of leaders who together can shift the nation.”
Focus on the Family President Jim Daly added, “Followers of Jesus Christ have an obligation, responsibility, and opportunity to put feet to their faith by voting and serving in their communities. By joining forces, Family Policy Alliance Foundation and Christians Engaged will help make this daily task easier—and faith-driven cultural activism more effective. History rests in the hands of believers, and turns on the hinges of seemingly small things, including our willingness to register and vote our values.”
