Commons talk:Copyright rules by territory/Israel
It seems that this conflict territorial area is, like Crimea, bordered with FOP-okay and FOP-not-okay countries: Israel (OK) and Syria (Not OK), or sometimes Lebanon (Not OK) if affects Sheba Farm, so is Israel's FOP rule also do applied to this area? --60.26.9.239 08:17, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Probably the precautionary principle would apply to pictures taken in this area. That is, no freedom of panorama for artwork or original architecture unless its inclusion is de minimis. Aymatth2 (talk) 13:22, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Status of laws and other "Edict of Government" material
[edit]I see from this page that there is no general PD-USGov-like copyright exception for government-produced works in the Israeli copyright act, but in various places I see reference to such exceptions for the type of material that would be covered under PD-EdictGov in the US: laws, judicial decisions, etc.
Anybody (Aymatth2 perhaps?) know, and can add here, the status for such works? --Xover (talk) 06:38, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- I added a section on "not protected", which includes statutes, regulations, Knesset Protocols and judicial decisions. Aymatth2 (talk) 11:41, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
Copyright status of stamps
[edit]According to the section on stamps only ones that were created 50 or more years ago are in the public domain and that we should use PD-IsraelGov in such instances. According to that template though it only applies if The State of Israel was the first owner of copyrights on the work AND the State did not waive its copyrights in a special contract with the author when the work was created. So I'm wondering how exactly we go about determining if either or both of those criteria are met when adding the license to images of stamps. Or do we just guess and/or assume that they are? [edit]There is an important discussion here, if there are copyright experts here they might want to weigh in. Alaexis (talk) 20:21, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
